Harvey and Dee Shrum,  are a family oriented couple residing in Northern California.  They have three grown children and seven grandchildren.  Their professional backgrounds  are in education and medical social work, respectively.  Dee first discovered the breed in 2001 and decided that  the Cavalier was the perfect breed for their family.   Dee knew she wanted a female puppy to train and was interested in showing.  Dee read  up on  selecting and buying a show potential dog.   Within months Dee found and became completely smitten with their first Cavalier, Buffy.  Despite the fact that Buffy was misrepresented by the breeder, she was a wonderful dog and true to breed type.

A few years later the beautiful tri-color  Baron  was added to the family.  Thankfully, he had come with  a very large supply of his own food.  Baron has turned out to be a lovely pet.  Early in 2007, Buffy was diagnosed with kidney failure secondary to melamine poisoning.  Sadly, they lost Buffy at the age of six  due to  melamine tainted pet food.  Caring for Buffy during her surviving ten months caused the couple to put any dog show dreams on hold.  They  thought that perhaps this extreme interest in dogs would go away.  Not so!  Buffy's valiant struggle only cemented their love for Cavaliers.

The void that the loss of Buffy left caused Dee to start searching again.  By then she knew that for protection of the breed, it is nearly impossible to obtain a top quality show potential AKC female Cavalier.  Dee counts it a miracle that  she and  Lacey found each other.  At the age of two, Lacey had lost her owner and had returned to breeder Linda Lashley, of AL.   Lacey is exceptional and she loves the show ring. Harvey enjoys handling their dogs in the show ring.

The  following year, thanks to AKC silver medallion award winning breeder Sandy Hesse, Harvey and Dee were thrilled to welcome Tammi- Countrymanor Faith Hill at Carte Blanche.
