It goes without saying that mutts are great dogs too. The various breeds we know today have been carefully developed over many centuries. Selecting for specific traits such as temperament, health, size and ability, has resulted in the various groups such as terriers, hounds and working dogs. There are breeds that are adapted for certain types of environments. There are several breeds to match every preference, activity level and lifestyle. With a specially selected purebred dog from a responsible AKC breeder, you essentially know what you are getting. It is a myth that mixed breeds are problem free. Health statistics are not available for mixed breeds . We do know however, that often such dogs end up unwanted and left at animal control shelters because the human that the dog depended upon, did not proctect and provide for spay or neutering. The very sad fact is that often an abandoned animal is the result of careless neglect on an owner's part. Low cost spay/neuter clinics are available in most areas of the United States. To find out more about how we are actively working to solve this problem please see Concerned Dog Owners of California.

Puppy brokers often use mass internet listings and newspaper ads. Together we can end shelters, abusive puppy mills and irresponsible ownership. Most importantly, please have all of your pets spayed or neutered. Please support AKC breeders who are responsible for every dog they breed for the lifetime of the dog. That is, responsible breeders will require return of the dog at any time if a buyer is unable to care for it.
